Air Law ground school
It has been a very productive week i feel. I have not done any flying but that is for many reasons. some of you who are BDFA members will have seen that the PA 28 which has the hand control that i fly has been at Solent having its 50 hr maintenance check.
Aviation Law:-
Some people will find this subject very hard to comprehend and somewhat less fascinating then other areas of PPL styllabus such as flying plans or doing cross country flying or anything apart from studying the academics of flying. Because i am so much in love with all aspects of ppl aviation, i find this subject extremely fascinating becasue it provides basis for the rules and regulations which govern general and civil aviation across the 172 member states of ICAO – INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION ORGANIZATION
WITHOUT understnding and fully comprehending this subject and passing the ground exam at or above 75% – there is not much you can do to gain a full PPL (A) licence. I have found a timetable that works for me when studying and revising this topic. So since my last post 4 days ago i have read / noted and revised 10 chapters out of 15 of the aviation law book that i’m using. Tomorrow i shall do practice questions across several publications including those avialable online.
Topics such as Altimeter settings / visual flight rules/ rules of the air i have found more taxing to comprehend then sections such as air law/ registrations and pilots licence privileges – however whenever i got a little worried or frustrated with intake of knowledge – i stop – have a cuppa of tea and do something different for 30 mins or so then get back to it.
I usually spend the mornings (9am – 12:45pm) reading and revision the previous day’s work and study notes – followed by lunch – then during the afternoon (2pm – 7pm) i will make notes and revise the mornings readings…so since my last post i read 1-3 chapters i.e 40-50 pages per day…i think tomorrow if the weather is fine and sunny, i shall take all my notes to a park and treat myself to doing revision away from the desk. I will take practice exam questions to identify what areas i need to brush up on.
having lived in night clubs and listened to alot of high energy rock n roll music when i worked with rock stars – i find that listening to radio 3 or other classical music stations very condusive to home self study….
my books can only contain so much information. I HAVE utizied the CAA Website and Aeronatautical information Service website frequently to download and print off lots and lots of pages of detailed literature. NOTHING IS DIFFICULT – JUST DIFFERENT – was something that someone said to me recently. I have said this to myself over and over again during the past few days – word by word – line by line and page by page – i will get to the end eventually and when i feel confident i shall check with my instructor to then sit the air law paper….after which i hope to do my first solo flight..oooohhhhh watch this space….after law i move onto Meteorology ground school….
