Barry Gets his Wings again in New Zealand
Barry Cardno a disabled pilot from Wanaka, New Zealand and a friend of Freedom in theAir has got his full wings back again since his plane crash. He has to be a pioneer for disbled aviators on the other side of the world.
He wrote to us with his news and this is what he had to say about his recent achievement:
“Down here I’ve been having much fun too. Last Thursday I went for a flight test at a city three hours drive away in a Cessna 172 to get my general aviation licence revalidated. Curiously, this Cessna I had flown many mates around in 14/15 years ago.
Although I qualified to fly a microlight licence last year, I felt a bit limited by it. If I had a passenger there was no space for my wheelchair! So fiiiiiii’nally, after years of trying, I have got the Civil Aviation bureaucrats to give me my general aviation licence back. (A constant dripping will wear away the stone…)”
Barry will be coming to the UK in October and we hope to do lots of flying with him then. Barry Questions in the Air interview can be found by clicking here….
