British Airways VC10 – Captain Stanley Stewart
It was over a year ago when i first called Stan to say how much i liked what he was trying to do with Aviation Without Borders. Since then I have become heavily involved with this meaningful organisation and i hope to become a trustee very soon. i interviewed Stan for our Question in the Air section, if you have yet to read it, do take a read of his enlightening interview….
This slideshow is of me, Stan and Adrian at Brooklands reuniting Stan with his old CV10….

During the weekend, i got to spend the whole day with Stan and Adrian during Smiling Wings. As we walked around Brooklands, Stan looked at the body of an old BA VC10 with the reg G-ARVM and said “I used to fly that” – how cool i thought. he would fly routes from London – Boston, Boston – Philadelphia, Philadelphia – Detriot and so on…
I wish i could do that.As we wondered around, another VC10 was on static display and this one used to be owned by the Sultan of Brunei. I was very proud to be wondering around with Stan listening to his stories about each aeroplane and getting an education on what it was like flying these planes. Stan become a Captain of BA 747′s and wrote books on Aviation. It feels great to know such a pilot and aviator. He is someone who i look up to and hope to learn from. I really want to fly with Stan – perhaps at Cranfield on June 5th when we host our next Smiling Wings day.
