During August 2011, FITA club member embarked on a UK tour to promote the development of the new “Freedom Control”, due to be launch in 2012.

Commercial pilot | Tour de France 2011 | day 2 of 4

Two pilots, one with a disability and one training to be a commercial pilot flew around France during November 2011. The purpose of the tour was to complete the remainder of Adam’s (pilot in command) required hours prior to course start. In this video we watch Adam complete his 300 NM cross country qualifying flight. With an early start in Northern France,the dua almost makes it the south.

The IMC rating syllabus was introduced by the CAA as an instrument qualification that they regarded to be a vital part in raising the standard of flying considerably and more importantly making the air a much safer place for all who use it.

This is an introduction to Air Law and the Instrument Meteorological Conditions (I.M.C) rating syllabus.

With the IMC rating the standard of your flying will improve, your confidence will increase with a greater understanding of advanced instrument flying that will result in new satisfaction and achievement. You as a holder of PPL owe it to yourself and fellow pilots to obtain the IMC rating before it goes forever from April 2012

Tour de France 2011 | day 1 of 4

FITA member Goaty Lewis and Cranfield Flying School (CFS) student Adam Luper went on a tour of France to complete the remaining hours required so that Adam could start his Commercial Pilot Licence course (CPL). The duo’s epic four day adventure started on 17th November from Manston because his C150, named Mockingbird II, had been stuck there for 2 days due to fog. Have toured the whole of UK during August 2011, what better way to end 2011 then to tour France.

Cranfield to Leeds in 5 mins in C152 aerobat

Having recently been approved to fly the C152 with the Union hand control – it was decided to do a plane trip to visit Chris Stringer who is the Chief flying instructor at Leeds Sherburn flying club. Chris was the original person who certified the Union for the C172. He was really helpful and supportive when we applied for the approval for the C152. So, it seemed only the right thing to do to fly the first flight in C152 to visit Chris. This is a time lapse footage.

After an epic journey around the UK to raise awareness about aviation for people with disabilities and rudder hand controls, we head for journey’s end. Final day of the Freedom Flight – flying mostly in IMC conditions.

Disabled pilot flying scholarship 2011 | FITA Press

Freedom in the Air and Cranfield Flying School , in association with Variety Club the children’s charity first flying scholarship for a young person with a disability. The scholarship will allow a young person to achieve a National private pilots licence (NPPL) over the summer holidays during 2011 from Cranfield Airport, EGTC.

Rudder hand controls approved for C152 | Union Aviation

A few weeks ago the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) sent FITA the supplement Type Certicate (STC) which approves the Union Aviation hand control for the C152. The Union is already approved for the C172 (4 seat) aeroplane. The C152 (2 seat) aeroplane is much cheaper to learn to train on and fly in then the 4 seater. The EASA STC for the Union on the C152 is approved in all 31 EASA member countries. We are very grateful to EASA for making this happen.
